Summary

We wanted to reduce weight (lightweighting) whilst maintaining strength in our products. We spoke with Rory in Coen Steel who advised on industry standards when lightweighting products. Rory was also able to offer access to technical support to provide the correct material for the job. We used a mix of Strenx 700MC and RAEX 400 plate to achieve our goal.

End Results

High quality product. Lighter, stronger and saving on welding time as we are now welding thinner material increasing our output.

Challenges Overcome

We successfully found replacement material to replace existing Mild steel using high strength materials. We found we could use 12mm wear plate where we previously used 20mm Mild steel.
