Summary

Coen Steel was appointed by Andrews Construction to provide 1,900 tonnes of Reinforcement Steel and 60 tonnes of Mesh to support the development of 2 notable housing developments in Dublin.

The first of these being the construction of 240 homes in one of Dublin’s most established residential areas in Rathfarnam. The development used the latest technologies and innovative building techniques, to deliver extremely energy efficient homes that could withstand the test of time.

The second project was the construction of 142 Apartments in 2 seven-storey apartment blocks, which include basements in their structure, in the prestigious location of Foxrock in Dublin.

Reinforcement Steel was the optimum product to use within the foundations, structures, and walls of the 4 and 5 bedroom houses and the 2 apartment blocks, to ensure the integrity and longevity of the building’s structures.

Reinforcement Steel is a specific type of steel used in concrete structures. It is known for its high tensile strength and structural support-giving properties, making it the ideal product for multi storey developments.

Coen Steel only source Reinforcement Steel that is fully compliant with Cares Certification. This ensures the material is exceptionally durable, causing minimal environmental impact at the end of its lengthy lifecycle, making it the ideal solution for such innovative housing developments.

Challenges

With both developments being located in existing residential areas, it was critical to ensure that the deliveries to site did not impact the flow of traffic or access for local residents. To minimise the impact Coen Steel facilitated early morning deliveries to site, to ensure the smooth flow of traffic throughout the working day.

End Results

Quick turnaround times were accomplished to enable the projects to be delivered ahead of schedule and within budget.
