12 month contract
These beams once fabricated would exceed 9 tons each in weight and be almost 14 meters in length, these beams had to fit the first time.
Coen Steel’s manufacturing facility and warehouse complex, comprising over 60,000 sq. feet, is located on the main Galway/Dublin road at Oranmore. In all, almost 2000 tons of rebar were fabricated in Oranmore and delivered to our client in the UK, to build 2 60-story blocks of apartments in central London. At the start of the project, we had just entered a lockdown, so trying to juggle that and producing material whilst delivering it to London was a challenge. We managed with a small crew to keep the job on track and kept the fabrication of the prefabricated elements going through a lockdown and the months that followed. One of the biggest challenges of this project was the fabrication of two bridge beams that would link the two buildings on the 12th floor. These beams, once fabricated, would exceed 9 tons each in weight and were almost 14 meters in length. These beams had to fit the first time. To ensure this would happen, we had to analyse the drawings and generate a 3D model of the elements to ensure all bars would fit and that there would be no clash of material once the beams were set in place over existing rebar and concrete elements.
Delivered on time and within budget.
1650 ton supplied with over 2000 elements fabricated and delivered during the 12 month period, from Oranmore to Brandon in Norwich UK which were then cast into concrete panels and re delivered to London.
To quote the client when asked how the beams were placed, his reply was that:
“ both fit like a glove.”
