Operations Manager
Reports to: COO
Coen Steel is a leading steel distributor and manufacturer with a history of commitment to excellence and innovation. We source and distribute premium standard and specialised steels to all industry sectors across the island of Ireland and the UK.
Reporting to the COO, the Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimising the operations function within Coen Steel, including inventory management, logistics, order fulfilment, and customer service.
The Operations Managerwill lead the day-to-day operations, drive process improvements, and ensure all operational activities are delivered on time, efficiently and profitably, while delivering exceptional customer service.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations across warehousing, transportation, purchasing and distribution activities
- Develop best in class processes and KPIs to optimise the operations function
- Develop daily and weekly capacity plans for inbound inventory and outbound customer orders.
- Manage the warehousing and outbound operations team to ensure the efficient handling of inbound and outbound materials, enhance systems and processes to optimise receipting, storing, and dispatching goods.
- Work with the Plant Manager to ensure the plans drive operational efficiencies within the production facility
- Ensure the timeliness and accuracy of the recording of incoming stock and stock movements within the ERP system
- Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction through efficient order fulfilment and issue resolution, working with the sales team to address any operational concerns, and to provide support for customer queries related to deliveries, lead times, and product availability.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and cost-effective delivery of orders to our customers across the ROI, NI, and mainland UK
- Lead the inventory management & raw material planning processes across multiple locations in Ireland, collaborating with the Management team to ensure materials are procured in line with market dynamics, to optimise the cost of materials.
- Lead the S&OP process, working with Sales and the Management teams to ensure alignment across functions.
- Lead the quarterly stock take across multiple sites in Ireland, working with key stakeholders to reconcile variances and update internal systems as required
- Manage relationships with our transport and logistic partners to ensure delivery schedules are optimised and customer delivery requirements are achieved
- Develop customer centric KPIs to ensure a best in class operational function is embedded within Coen Steel, collaborating with key stakeholders, including sales and production to ensure alignment across functions.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the transport, purchasing, warehousing and outbound operations team creating a high-performing culture focused on service excellence.
Requirements
- B.S. in Business, Operations or Engineeringor similar
- A minimum of 5years’ experience in anOperations Manager role
- Experience within a Manufacturing environment, ideally within the construction and/or steel sector
- Very strong IT, numerical and data analysis skills with a high degree of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a working knowledge of an inventory management system (Microsoft Navision or similar).
- Experience in delivering process improvement within an operational environment
- Ability to collaborate, communicate and influence at all levels of our business.
- Experience in Project Management and/or Lean Manufacturing processes is a plus
